Changes to DT Part 8A
Artificial Saliva Gel DPF has been added to part 8A of the Drug Tariff. Dental prescriptions must be written using the generic name. The BNF lists Biotene Oralbalance Gel as the only proprietary product but if prescribed as such on a dental form it will not be passed for payment.
Changes to Part 8a - Items allowed on a Dental Prescription
The following items were deleted from the Dental Formulary with Effect from September 2011. They are not in Part 8a of the DT and cannot be prescribed by dentists.

Nitrazepam Tablets BP were also removed from the Dental formulary at this time.
