CPS Now Registered Umbrella Organisation With Disclosure Scotland

The Pharmacy & Medicines Division of the Scottish Government has produced an advice note on the application of the PVG scheme in the context of NHS Pharmaceutical Services.
Community Pharmacy Scotland (CPS) has acted to support its members by becoming a registered umbrella organisation with Disclosure Scotland to facilitate pharmacy owners' compliance with the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.
All pharmacists newly employed by contractors after 28th February 2011 have to be members of the PVG scheme.
CPS will handle all aspects of the administration of these requests on behalf of its members with contractors only having to cover the cost of the necessary Disclosure Scotland fee. For any non-members, involved in the healthcare field, wishing to utilise CPS' expertise will be able to do so at competitive rates.
Harry McQuillan, Chief Executive Officer said "this is a very important development for the organisation by adding value in support of our contractor members and will ensure our pharmacy owners comply with this new legislation. A full information pack will be sent to all contractors in the near future."
To ensure contractors are following the law the following flowcharts have been prepared:
Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme SOP for new employees from 28th February 2011
Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme SOP for PVG scheme registered prospective employees from 28th February 2011
Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme SOP for existing employees from 28th February 2012
