Lilly has been named as the most problematic manufacturer to deal with by over a quarter of independent pharmacists who took part in a survey about direct-to-pharmacy (DTP) supply schemes.
The survey findings, published last week (29 July 2011) by the Independent Pharmacy Federation, reveal that 27 per cent of independent pharmacists named Lilly as the most difficult manufacturer to deal with when trying to obtain medicines, 13 per cent named Sanofi and a further 12 per cent named Pfizer.
Over 500 independent pharmacists participated in the survey conducted over two weeks.
Difficulties such as chasing manufacturers, waiting for supplies and unavailable medicines were reported by those surveyed, with 50 per cent claiming they spent up to three hours a week trying to obtain supplies by alternative routes.
