Two universities may become the first in the UK to offer a new fully integrated five-year pharmacy degree incorporating clinical practice which has traditionally only been available through a separate preregistration training position.
The proposals for accreditation from Birmingham and Durham universities are due to be considered by the General Pharmaceutical Council in June.
The move by the universities coincides with a wider drive by those involved in pharmacy education and training to replace the existing four-year MPharm degree with a new five-year integrated degree instead.
