Proposals for the value-based pricing of branded medicines have been put out for consultation today (16 December 2010) by the Department of Health.
The document sets out plans to replace the current method of appraising and pricing medicines for use in the NHS — which the Government says has “serious shortcomings” — with a system that links a drug’s price more closely to the net value it delivers to society (see Panel).
