Unlicensed medicines manufacturer The Specials Laboratory is to roll out its Special Obtains service nationally, which promises to reduce the time pharmacists spend sourcing low-volume products.
The Specials Laboratory service, which is being rolled out nationally after a succesful trial in the Northeast, sources products that are not readily available through mainline wholesalers, such as colostomy and ostomy lines and cover creams.
Orders are delivered direct to the pharmacy in three to five days. An order is only placed once the product has been sourced and the price agreed with the pharmacist, The Specials Laboratory said.
The Specials Laboratory managing director Sharon Griffiths said: “By developing a strong network of supply partners, our new sourcing service takes the hassle out of unusual prescription queries.”
