A professional body that is inspiring and responsive to changing needs are a must for evidence-based practice, which is required for community pharmacy to flourish.
NHS commissioning decisions about groups of patients and choice of providers will be based on a combination of three factors: evidence, values and resources. They will not be based on activity reports.
Most commissioning decisions are based on culture, tradition and political expediency or clout. So, what we have is opinion-based rather than evidence-based decision making, and this leads to opinion-based instead of evidence-based practice.
