Infrastructure
The Right Medicine identified that to ensure that all disciplines of Pharmacy in Scotland are able to optimise pharmaceutical care there was a need to review the current infrastructure to ensure that pharmacies and pharmacists have the capacity to deliver new and improved services.
As a result of this review and as part of preparation for the new community pharmacy contract an infrastructure fund was created in April 2006. The infrastructure fund has allowed community pharmacy contractors to invest in:
• Premises
As a result of this investment community pharmacy contractors have been encouraged to install modern IT systems and to train staff to ensure they are capable of supporting the delivery of new services from enhanced premises.
