PHS Campaigns 2009-2010

Circular PCA (P) 2009 8 contains the proposed PHS Health Promotion campaigns for 2009-10.

Campaign Date Description
Prescription Charges 30th March - 3rd May This campaign will highlight the continued reduction in prescriptions to £4. Further information is available in the circular PCA(P)(2009)06/(M)(2009)03 and at www.infoscotland.com/prescriptions
Hand Hygiene 4th May - 14th June 2009 Further details awaited
Summer Health 15th June - 26th July 2009 This campaign coincides with the start of school holidays and will provide advice on summer healthcare
Sexual Heath 27 th July - 6th September Further details awaited
HPV Vaccination 7th September - 18th October 2009 This campaign will coincide with the start of the second year of the vaccination programme for 12-18 year olds in Scotland. Further information for health professionals is available at

Seasonal Flu 19th October - 15th November 2009 Flu and the importance of vaccination will again be reinforced with the poster campaign.The Infoscotland website provides good information for the public along with supporting leaflets to encourage uptake of the vaccination.
The Health Scotland website on Flu immunisation provides links to the Green Book and Scottish Government circulars on Influenza vaccination.
Minor Ailment Service 16th November - 3rd January 2010 This campaign will once again promote the Minor Ailment Service at a critical period of Christmas and New Year.
Christmas and New Year 2009 will once again see a four day holiday period for GPs. The Minor Ailment Service and the Unscheduled Care PGD will be vital tools to help support patients access to treatment and medicines over the festive period.
