Remuneration
The Scottish Government circular PCA (P) (2008) 17 outlined the changes to funding for PHS from April 2008. It has been agreed with Community Pharmacy Scotland to merge Tier 1 and Tier 2 PHS services into a core Public Health service. Community Pharmacy contractors will now be reimbursed £750 per month for providing the core PHS service.
The funding for the two new PHS services has been agreed for 2008-9 as follows:
Sexual Health Services
EHC Service
· A readiness and administration payment of £230
· Capitation payment of £25 per EHC Intervention
· Reimbursement for Levonorgestrel prescribed using CPUS Prescription form
Chlamydia Testing and Treatment Service
· A readiness and administration payment of £270
· A monthly availability for service payment of £40
· Capitation payment of £25 per patient counselled and treated if required
· Reimbursement for anti-biotics prescribed using the National PGD using a CPUS Prescription form
Smoking Cessation Services
· A readiness and administration Payment of £925
· A monthly availability for service payment of £60
· Capitation payment based on a proportion of £187500 per month subject to a minimum of £25 per patient. To claim a proportion of the £187500 pharmacy contractors will be expected to return data on the number of patients presenting to the pharmacy for cessation services and whether they are in month 1,2 and 3 of the service.
The numbers of patients seen across Scotland will be aggregated and each pharmacy will receive a share of the £187500 pool.
· Reimbursement for Nicotine Replacement therapy prescribed using a CPUS Prescription form.
